2lb Strontium Nitrate
2lb Barium Nitrate
1lb Magnalium -230+325 mesh
1lb Parlon
1lb Red Gum
Originally designed to be used with the screen-slicing method of making stars, where acetone is used to soften the parlon, which is the binder.
5% dextrin may be added to the formula for water binding.
Be aware that strontium nitrate is often quite hygroscopic, and is not ideal for water binding. Denatured alcohol may be used to wet the dry comp, at 5-10%, for pumping of stars/comets.
The finer the MgAl, the faster the star will burn. 200 to 325-mesh MgAl works well.
