Description
Composition and Properties
Aluminum 809 is a dark, fine powder with a grey coloration. It differs from atomized aluminum, which tends to be lighter in color. Under a microscope, atomized powders appear spherical, while dark aluminum powders are irregular and angular in shape. Dark aluminum is known for its high quality but is generally more expensive than other aluminum powders.
Uses in Fireworks
Aluminum 809 is primarily used as a fuel in various pyrotechnic applications, including flash powders and star compositions. Its dark color and fine particle size make it ideal for creating visually appealing effects such as sparks, glitter, and firefly effects in fireworks displays.
Benefits in Fireworks Production
The use of Aluminum 809 offers several benefits, including its ability to produce a wide range of effects, its compatibility with other pyrotechnic ingredients, and its consistent performance in different compositions.
Application Techniques
When working with Aluminum 809, it is important to take safety precautions, such as wearing a dust mask and goggles to prevent inhalation and eye contact. Care should also be taken to prevent the powder from coming into contact with moisture, as this can lead to spontaneous ignition.
Environmental Impact
Aluminum 809, like other aluminum powders, can have environmental impacts if not handled and disposed of properly. It is important to follow recommended disposal practices to minimize these impacts.
Safety Precautions
Due to its potential health hazards, precautions should be taken when handling Aluminum 809, including wearing protective clothing and avoiding contact with skin, eyes, and lungs. Mixtures containing nitrates and aluminum powder should be handled with care to prevent spontaneous ignition.
Storage Recommendations
Store Aluminum 809 in a cool, dry place away from moisture and heat sources. Ensure the product is stored in a tightly sealed container to prevent contamination and accidental exposure.
Quality Standards and Regulations
Ensure that the use of Aluminum 809 complies with relevant quality standards and regulations to ensure safety and efficacy in pyrotechnic applications.
Future Trends and Innovations
As pyrotechnic technology continues to evolve, there may be further innovations in the use of Aluminum 809 in fireworks production, leading to new and exciting visual effects.

Great aluminum and a great price for a hard-to-find product.

Good all around fine Aluminum powder, with multiple uses. Helps bulk up flash a bit too, when mixed with Indian black or German dark. Also makes good Flash by itself, that takes up a little more space than usual, due its slightly fluffier particle size.
Loud too!!

This is some very nice 325 mesh aluminum, I can conclude that this is quite a reactive aluminum powder from flame tests, it is Super easy to set on fire with a lick of a match flame, more so than regular dark aluminum even though it is not dark pyro grade which makes this aluminum quite special, whether you want to create a hot star prime, short silvery trails in firework effects, or even flash reports, it is a versatile aluminum powder indeed, for physical reference, this aluminum looks similar to the type of aluminum consumer firecrackers contain in their flash powder mixture where it’s kind of coarse and light gray, one last thing, always wear a dust mask when handling this stuff since it really likes to fly around when it is lightly agitated
