Summary

Mg MUST be coated in Dichromate! See Pyrotechnica and/or FAST for details on this.

Originally from a red star formula by Meinhert I think, flavor from doc barr, maybe a little Steinberg … it works. Mg is superior to MgAl in this for color, MgAl is a lttle easier to get a more defined strobe but touchier on the granulation. Oil or vaseline will work as a binder in 2% or less but NC works pretty well. Slow burning, if used for a delay (recommended) keep the thickness down. I have used HCB in this with superior results (replacing PVC and Parlon). I have also done small tests subbing Saran the same way. So far so good. The PVC acts like a bit of a binder when used with Acetone/NC. However, rather than removing NC and using Parlon as the binder, I’m more inclined to remove Parlon and PVC, sub in Saran, and use NC as the binder. This is not a big lift producer, needs more whistle to get it going than white strobe.
