Napthol (Naphthol) in this comp refers to the use of Naphthalene.
Posted by Lloyd Sponenburg, reprinted from Shimizu in Lancaster Ball mill the naphthalene with the Sb2S3 (naphthalene “re-welds” to itself easily, so in a cool environment). Add the binder and oxidizer, and screen well to mix. Roll as round stars — 1/2″ to 5/8″ work nicely. Prime with hand-mixed weak powder. Burst as a normal chrysanthemum, and don’t store them more than a few months. The naphthalene will sublime, leaving only antimony/chlorate dark-flash.
