The nitrate, sulfur and airfloat charcoal need to be ball milled together. The coarser charcoal is mixed in by hand, and should contain a range of particle sizes between 30 and 100 mesh in order to give a good tail. The charcoal used here is home-made from spruce wood, which makes a very fast burning BP.
