Summary

Potassium Dichromate precautions. Use gloves. Mask if larger quantities involved.

Use fine-milled potassium dichromate. 10% N/C lacquer. The coarse MgAl is -60+80 mesh. This is a modification of Shimizu’s AP Twinkler with added fine mesh MgAl. The original formula wouldn’t ignite properly (for me anyhow) with only coarse (-60+80) MgAl. Use strobe or Veline hot prime. Prime can be mixed in a small container with N/C and acetone and small pumped or cut stars rolled in the container to make star cores. N/C lacquer also shields from nitrate/AP hygroscopic problems if nitrate based comp is then rolled onto the cores.
